You may feel nervous, anxious, and frightened about events and situations that typically in the past you have handled successfully. The loss of control over how to manage events in one’s life and thinking about them over and over sometimes resembles a panic feeling that can bring about shortness of breath and sweaty palms.
Treatment for anxiety ranges from specific behaviors aimed at removing the panic attack feelings, to developing coping strategies, to working more deeply in treatment. Occasionally, and with psychiatric evaluation, medications will be prescribed along with the psychotherapy. In addition to individual therapy, group therapy is also available. Please refer to the Practice Areas for more detail of the specifics of the treatment using psychotherapy and psychoanalysis.
